Merry Christmas

First Christmas as a single mom, thought it would be brutal but I made it through okay. The Little Man was great, keeping me laughing throughout the day and I'm sure that helped a great deal, LOL.

Yesterday he was handed a gift with explicit instructions to "Go to the other room and put this under the tree". Immediately the questions started - "What is it?" (I'm not telling), "Is it a toy" (No, it's not a toy), "Is it for me?" (I'm not telling). The Little Man trots off to do as he's told, so I think (as does Grammy who is visiting from out of town). Within a matter of seconds the Little Man is RUNNING in to the room "I don't know what happened, it was an accident! Grammy got me Ant Bully!!!" LOL - he can't resist the temptation of a present, much like his mother!

Later in the day we were at my sisters house...grown-ups sitting around talking, kids playing quietly (should have been the first clue), when the Little Man comes RUNNING in to the room (yes...much like before) "It was an accident! Grammy got me Spiderman Legos!" Poor Grammy, didn't know whether to laugh or cry - the Little Man has now opened all the gifts from her, a day early, but he is SO excited. You can just see it in his eyes how hard he is trying to resist but those presents seem to be calling to him, it was sure easier when he didn't know how to read his name!

He awoke at 7:30 this morning to open gifts (the few that were left from the previous 'accidents') and was surprisingly subdued through the whole ordeal. If I didn't know better I would venture that he was completely disinterested in the job at hand. The Little Man had other ideas, however. He was not interested in opening gifts and playing with toys...he was itching to get back to the presents left at my sisters the day before. After opening the last of the gifts he announced "It's time to go, I'm ready". I questioned his readiness as he was still wearing his Polar Bear jammies from bedtime but he insisted, then sat on the floor and put on his shoes, over the footed pajamas!

And so went the day, a lot of love, a lot of laughter, and new traditions for our new life. This is a Christmas that I will hold near and dear for many years to come.
